How much do sessions cost?

Counseling fees are usually on a sliding scale that ranges from $5 to $25 per session.We do not deny services due to inability to pay.

Who qualifies for the services?

San Luis Obispo County residents who do not qualify for Behavioral/Mental Health Services of San Luis Obispo or who cannot afford private psychotherapy. No one is denied services on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin,immigration status, age, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental disability, or ability to pay.

Who provides the clinical service?

This counseling service is staffed by culturally responsive,  well-educated and trained graduate students in the Master of Science Psychology Program under the supervision of clinically licensed psychologists in the Psychology and Child Development Department.

How long can I be seen for?

Graduate students in training spend two quarters in this clinic. You and your clinician (along with their supervisor's feedback) will determine the length of time for treatment. If you decide to stay in our clinic longer than your initial student clinician, there is a possibility of transferring to the following cohort of graduate students.

Where is the clinic?

San Luis Obispo Counseling Service at Cal Poly is located on the Cal Poly campus directly off California Blvd. on the first floor of the Cotchett Education Building (No. 2), Room 125.

Where do I park?

Metered parking is available near the clinic in front of Building 02 where our clinic is located. Be prepared to pay for at least 60 minutes for each session (approximately $2). Expired meters will receive citations.
